HTV de IJsberg 81: Left overs

HTV de IJsberg issue 81 titled "Leftovers"was published in January 2010. Ann Demeester, director of Appel Arts Center was invited by us to be the special guest editor. Theme of this issue was the question what is left after a performance is over. Is perhaps the registration part of the art work, or is it just documentation?

For this issue I made 26 drawings as a registration during the program "The Manifold (after) lives of Performance" organised by De Appel and STUK (Leuven, Belgium) on November 14th 2009 at Frascati theater in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Afterwards the designers of HTV de IJsberg transformed it into a huge poster of A1 size to publish it in the arts paper. All drawings on this poster were made during performances on one day.

Drawings by Karin Bos for HTV 81.
It shows the introduction by Ann Demeester and Eva Wittocx, Keynote Lecture by Sophie Delpeux, Case Study Presentation by Myriam van Imschoot, Case Study Presentation by Marie Cool and Fabio Balducci, Case Study Presentation by Eric Mangion, Case Study Presentation by Scott Delahunta and Bertha Bermudez, Round Table Conversation, and Performance by Serge Delbruyere.

The actual drawings I donated to the Appel archive, so they have become Leftovers as well, also posing the question "is it art or is it documentation?"

Talking of Leftovers: the Appel reopened yesterday, at their new venue, and the HTV de IJsberg editors and board menbers will have a meeting this month to discuss how to make the HTV archives available to the public. It contains 84 issues made during 15 years by an amazing selection of artists and art theorists. It has to become visible and accesible, probably online. We keep you posted, to be continued.
